A night on the beach — fishermen at sunset, a shooting star at sunrise.
The sky was going down behind the hills, creating a yellow light over it, and over the yellow light the still blue almost dark sky. Another beautiful sunset around here, we thought. Today was a summer day in the winter. Blue sky and sun all day long. It is moments like these that make us wonder and remember why we are still here. It is about that, this beauty, the infinite different shades of colors that we have been witnessing for the last months. We walked through the beach until the lighthouse and took some pictures. Some fishermen were there throwing their lines in the water, a woman reading a book silently. The fishermen were just standing, looking ahead, patiently waiting, while the daylight faded slowly, minute after minute. This dreamy sunset for us is just what they had gotten used to always seeing. Boats with cool names and happy and confident faces were coming back from the sea, entering the channel to park somewhere. Even though we went there to take sunset pictures, we ended up spending more time just thinking and contemplating. The silence there was just too sacred. We didn’t want to be the ones annoying that moment with camera noises. The night arrived bringing the coldness back and we went home again.
dreaming and waking
Me and Larry decided to wake early next morning. Catch the sunrise on the rocks close to the little beach. Larry went to his bed about 10 pm. I spent a little more time awake reading on the chair. Forty minutes later I was going to bed. I settled the alarm for 6:10 am, and closed my eyes. A strange dream took over just after I fell asleep. I was in a house with Laura, she was taller than normal and I was trying to kiss her, then people started to enter the house while Laura hugged me from above, it was all blurry and nonsense. I woke up and just 10 minutes had pass by. There was a message voice message from Laura that I didn’t check. I decided to answer next morning anyway, so I finally slept. Deep sleep and other dreams with many people and nonsense again in my old mom’s apartment where I used to live.
It was all dark yet when the alarm screamed. I turned it off and realized that was too early I could have more ten minutes, that just passed like a blink when Larry’s alarm also started to scream. He turned off and turned to other side of his bed and kept sleeping. I stand up avoiding the temptation of the blankets in the cold morning. I went down the stair iron black stair making loud steps. Brushed my teeth, looked my self in the mirror for a seconds and thought about my new haircut, what a bull shit. Washed my face and went back to the stair, I almost fell making a lot of noise, Manoel got angry and said to me be silent. I poked Larry, he said “no”. Ok, I grabbed the camera, my tobacco, put all in my bag and went to still dark streets.
Albagaard Road was sleeping, for the first time I walked in the streets so early, a few souls here and there going to somewhere, all silent in the cold wind, it was good to be walking. I got into the channel and crossed the bridge, one small boat passing under it going to the sea. I walked faster, I wanted to see the sun rising from its beginning behind the ocean. It is always cool go to the little beach, walking the steep narrow paths up the hills, between simple houses and inns to rent. A few minutes and I was seeing the beach from above. Just a small boat there with four fisherman going to the water to try their luck.
